2019 Opened first in-house pharmacy at Kea'au Family Health and Dental Center bringing inexpensive pharmaceuticals right to our patients.
2018 Purchased the property that houses our Kea'au Family Health and Dental Center.
2018 Purchased the Kīlauea Business Center in downtown Hilo, location of our Administration Office.
2018 Received AADE Diabetes Education Accreditation.
2018 Voted 'Best of East Hawaii' Medical Facility, Hawaii Tribune Herald.
2017 Voted 'Best of East Hawaii' Medical Facility, Hawaii Tribune Herald.
2016 Began the first dual use, primary medical and dental, Mobile Health Unit in the state.
2016 Moved the Administration Office to Kīlauea Avenue in downtown Hilo, and established Bay Clinic’s Training Center and Call Center.
2015 Voted 'Best of East Hawaii' Medical Facility, Hawaii Tribune Herald.
2015 Established the only 340B Federal Discount Pharmacy Program in East Hawai'i.
2014 Received multi-site Patient-Centered Medical Home Level 3 from the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
2013 Opened the newly constructed Ka'ū Family Health and Dental Center in Nā’ālehu.
2013 Added pediatric care at our Pāhoa Women's Health Center and renamed the center to Pāhoa Women and Children's Health Center to reflect the expanded service.
2012 Opened the Hilo Family Dental Center with six exam rooms to expand access to affordable dental care for our Hilo community.
2010 Opened the Hilo Women's Health Center, offering comprehensive OB/GYN, prenatal, perinatal, and women's health care services.
2010 Began Mobile Dental Van services to provide dental care throughout East Hawai’i.
2009 Opened the Pāhoa Women's Health Center in the lower Puna District.
2008 Opened Hilo Family Health Center, that incorporated Hilo Bay Clinic and further expanded access to health care services.
2003 Initiated the Kea'au Youth Business Center that focused on health promotion activities for teens, including music and the arts.
2002 Received Federally Qualified Health Center status.
2001 Opened the Kea'au Family Health Center to serve the upper Puna District; added dental care to our scope of service.
1998 Relocated the Hilo Bay Clinic to the Hilo bay front; and expanded comprehensive medical and behavioral health care services.
1996 Opened the Ka’ū Family Health Center in Na’ālehu when the sugar plantation and the plantation-operated health clinic closed.
1991 Opened the Pāhoa Family Health Center to serve the health care needs of the residents of lower Puna District residents.
1986 Received 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
1983 Founded the Hilo Bay Clinic; a grass-roots women’s health clinic at the Kukuau Plaza.

 

Today

Bay Clinic is the largest non-profit community health center on Hawai’i Island. We employ approximately 180 health care professionals and support staff, which is about $13 million in annual salaries and wages for East Hawai’i residents. We are a significant contributor to our local economy, workforce infrastructure, and access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare on Hawai’i Island. Today, we serve 22,096 East Hawai’i residents with approximately 80,000 visits annually.
